Dear What Am I Worth,
I'm an IT manager/business analyst for a Wellington-based distribution corporation. My academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and I'm training for an MCSE [Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer] certification which should be complete by August 2000.
I have no formal IT training. My roles include analysing and optimising business processes with regards to our Informix-based Inventory Management System and total administrative responsibilities for all 120 staff.
My environment involves four LANs (Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Wellington) connected by Frame Relay and three servers operating out of Wellington. My administrator functions include full NT administration and low-level Unix (Solaris 2.6), SUN Internet Mail Server, and Informix administration for all staff.
I also manage one-off IT projects - the most recent having been a comprehensive Y2K test for the corporation. Future projects include coordinating a comprehensive corporate e-commerce strategy, integrating a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) package with our existing Informix database, and Computer Telephony Integration (CTI). I've effectively had eight months' experience in this environment.
