Dear What Am I Worth,

I am employed by the police in the UK as a civilian IT officer. I have three roles that I have to fill.

I am the only hardware technician in the force responsible for 2000 PCs and 500 network printers. I am one of two network administrators overseeing the switches and routers on our WAN of 18 sites which include E1 and fibre links so I have completed a Cisco admin course to do basic router programming. I help to administer the fax server with Lotus Notes 3. I am the administrator for the Motorola Starnet radio aliasing system (a system I helped to redesign and implemented). I am mainly familiar with the usual Microsoft systems NT/Windows and do use some Unix boxes.

Jim

IT@Work replies: Based on your diversity of responsibilities we would anticipate a salary package of between $50,000 to $65,000 for this role, bearing in mind that factors such as location and industry types do have quite a considerable influence upon compensation.
