Media giant Independent Newspapers Ltd (INL) launches its much-heralded Web site tomorrow.
The site, due for launch earlier this year, was delayed some months due to "technical issues to do with stability on the site," says an INL spokesperson.
The site will feature national and international news and sport, business news, regional news and specialist topics.
It will draw upon content from INL's 80 newspapers and magazine titles and will have a single national brand, yet to be released.
The service will be free to users, paid for by advertising, including classifieds from individuals.
Newspaper advertisers will be offered space on the INL Internet site for a small additional cost.
Based in Wellington, the site is edited by former Nelson Evening Mail editor David Mitchell.
INL is keeping other details under wraps until the Auckland launch tomorrow morning.
"The launch of this site represents a significant step for INL and enables the company to offer a range of news and services that will take us forward into the new century," says INL managing director Mike Robson.
