The Companies Office will offer the choice of electronic invoices in the next two months.
Clients who have accounts with the Personal Property Securities Register, Companies Office or Intellectual Property Office for online services are currently sent monthly invoices by post. However, many have said they’d prefer invoices to be sent electronically, says Ministry of Economic Development manager of e-business services Andrew Wagg.
Wagg says customers will have two options. They will be able to elect to have their invoice sent to their email address or download it from the Companies Office website at a time that suits them. Two format options will be available – Adobe PDF or Microsoft Excel.
Wagg says companies such as law firms can use the Excel option to import invoices directly into their disbursement systems.
All Companies Office development is done internally using Oracle software but the ministry is moving towards developing thin-client applications.
