Fonterra-owned portal Fencepost.com wants to reach beyond its shareholder customer base with a new service — Fencepost Web Services.
The company will also next month launch Fonterra.com, a website for the dairy group.
Fencepost Web Services will extend the farming and business applications built by Fencepost for dairy farmers during the past two years to other agricultural sectors and communities in New Zealand and overseas.
It already provides business applications and information to meat companies and ENZA and is talking to dairy companies in Australia.
Applications Fencepost offers include dairy farming productivity benchmarking tools, a pasture planner, fertiliser tools, market intelligence reporting and worldwide prices for butter, beef and wool.
It will also start pushing its separately branded Live.ex — a virtual livestock saleyard — and Prime.ex, which lets dairy and beef farmers sell to meat companies by tender.
