Internet technology graduate

As a computer industry novice, I am wondering whether web development or database management presents the better entry-level opportunities? And what initial salary can I expect?

Dear What Am I Worth,

I am an internet technolgy graduate with good knowledge of HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript and ASP, as well as networking, NT Server and IIS configuration and administration and Linux including Apache web server. I also finished an SQL Server 2000 management course in June and have passed the MCP SQL Server 2000 database design and implementation exam. I have no experience in any of those fields (apart from few websites done as student projects). My experience, however, is with general office duties and exporting of goods.

Alliance IT Recruitment replies: Your first IT job is the hardest to get. I would be looking at entry-level positions in all aspects of the industry. Graduate positions typically start at about $35,000.
