Counties Power has taken the first step in the building of its wholesale broadband service by selecting a vendor for its ethernet backbone.
Counties Power has selected US-based World Wide Packets to help build its network and plans to offer broadband internet access as well as telephony and video conferencing to local Counties residents and businesses from July.
It has also recently finished laying the first of its fibre optic network in the Pukekohe CBD and is now looking for businesses to take part in its pilot project.
Counties Power will act as a wholesaler of telco services - that is it will sell its services to other telcos and ISPs rather than to end users directly. As such, it hopes to avoid competing with its own customers for business.
