Zespri has still to appoint a CIO after searching for more than a year.
Despite hopes to make an appointment before Christmas, the kiwifruit marketer has readvertised the post, with a closing date for applications early this month.
The latest delay was so the appointment can be made by new chief executive Tim Goodacre, who joined Zespri several weeks ago.
Goodacre, says a company insider, wanted to meet the firm’s 130 staff and get to know the business better before making a decision.
The CIO vacancy arose at the end of 2001 following the resignation of CIO Grahame Coles, who became Zespri’s change and strategy manager.
Coles says the post has been hard to fill because suitable applicants perceive limited career opportunities in the Bay of Plenty.
Last year, Zespri shifted from Auckland to Tauranga to be closer to suppliers.
