Dear What Am I Worth,
I am employed as a senior engineer for a small solutions and hardware company in Northland. I have five years' experience with Microsoft server and workstation operating systems, server applications (including Exchange, anti-virus and backup software), and desktop applications (Office and other applications).
I also have in-depth knowledge of server, workstation and printer hardware, and work
with hardware based routers firewalls and VPN servers.
I have 3 MCPs, (NT4 server, W2k Server and W2k Professional) I am a D-Link certified engineer and make it a point to get to as many training and information days as I can.
I have three major clients for whom I have designed and implemented IT infrastructure. These clients are running multiple servers on different sites connected with frame relay.
I am responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of these sites including desktop, printer and application support 24x7. I am also required to assess these systems and recommend upgrades or changes as necessary.
I have numerous other sites including schools that I have designed and implemented W2k server or W2k Terminal Server solutions for. I still have overall responsibility for these sites, with some of the day-to-day support being done by other engineers whom I mentor and assist.
I have worked for the same company in the same position for three years and my clients regard me as their IT manager. I have not had a salary increase in this time and as I have a review was wondering what I should be looking for in remuneration.
TMP Worldwide replies: Be flexible with your salary as Northland is not flooded with these types of jobs. Look at $45,000 to $65,000 per annum.
