Zespri has given up its year-long search for a CIO following a restructuring of the company by new chief executive Tim Goodacre.
The kiwfruit marketing body has replaced its operations division with a global supply chain and systems department, which is responsible for all aspects of planning, procurement, quality assurance and logistics. The department is to be supported by information systems.
The new department will be headed by former CIO Grahame Coles, the current change and strategy manager. Coles joined Zespri in January 2000 as IS manager, a role that was expanded to manage a strategic review of core processes, including supply chain.
Existing supply chain head Richard Punter is leaving Zespri to pursue other business opportunities, according to a company statement.
In place of a CIO Bay of Plenty-based Zespri is understood to be seeking a group manager of IS, who will work under Coles.
Goodacre claims the restructuring will make Zespri more efficient and its growers and suppliers more active within its decision making processes.
