Submissions sought on .geek.nz proposal

The Domain Name Commissioner (DNC) has called for submissions on the formation of a new second level domain (2LD) .geek.nz following the successful straw poll.

This is the second stage of the 2LD process, to be followed by a draft ruling from InternetNZ, another round of discussion and a final ruling.

The .geek.nz submission received overwhelming support from those that voted in the straw poll (see Geeks tread where bankers failed) to clear the first hurdle in the process.

InternetNZ is reviewing the entire 2LD procedure and has declared a moratorium on new proposals in the mean time. The .geek.nz proposal was the last to be accepted before the moratorium came into effect.

The submission period runs from March 26 to April 29.
