Small would increasingly appear to be beautiful – at least, in the PC market. Notebook PC maker Toshiba had the second highest sales of all PC suppliers in New Zealand in the first three months of the year, according to analyst IDC.
However, Toshiba’s results were boosted by a major deal with the Ministry of Education, supplying notebooks to teachers. Hewlett-Packard and Apple are also enjoying some of the education business, but Toshiba won the lion’s share.
Hewlett-Packard keeps its position at the top of the PC league table, with IBM, Dell and Apple in third, fourth and fifth spots.
Missing from the top five is local assembler The PC Company.
