Dear What am I Worth,
I'm a desktop support consultant for a university. I have had this role for two-and-a-half years.
My day consists of answering support questions from 180 staff members, along with installing all kinds of software ranging from MS products through to anything the staff members pull off the Web. I support all kinds of Win98 problems, and can fix almost any OS problem that arises.
I am efficient in similar support of Win NT 4.0. I am competent with all kinds of hardware, installation, configuration, and support. I've completed three MCSE exams, including NT4 Server, NT4 Server in the Enterprise, and Internet working with TCP/IP. I also provide support and cover for our server administrator on our PDC, Wins serverand DNS server.

QUBE replies: As a general rule salaries in your employer's sector tend to be lower than the industry standard. On the open market I would expect you to command a salary in the $40,000 to $50,000 range.
