CHH strike leaves IT unscathed

"No systems were turned off while the strike was on - just the terminals were turned off."

The company took the opportunity to upgrade its MOPS (Millwide Information and Optimisation System) system and Elixir form generation systems during the strike, Orchard says.

Both were planned, but one was brought forward to be done during the strike, she says.

The company advertised recently for an IS manager, to be based at the mill, a position yet to be filled.

The top IT position at the company is also vacant, following the departure of former CIO Russell Jones to work at CHH's parent, International Paper in the US.

An Auckland-based CHH spokesperson told Computerworld the recruitment process is being worked through.
