Dear What Am I Worth,

I have been working for a civil engineering consulting company in the Wellington area for the past six years as CAD/Network Officer.

CAD draughting is my main duty (with 10 years' experience) and additionally I administer the company computer system consisting of an NT server and 22 Windows 95/98 based workstations. I'm responsible for managing the server, printers, backup, rebuilding workstations, software/hardware troubleshooting and other computer system related supports.

I have two years' experience with NT and 10 years' experience with PCs. Although I take additional duties as a network administrator my salary hasn't increased a lot. Could you please advise me on the salary range for a CAD operator with 10 years' experience and the salary for my current position.

I have a Bachelor of Town Planning degree from overseas and am studying towards an MCSE [Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer].

CAD/Network Officer

QUBE replies: As you are on the fringes of our area of expertise, I can only guess at an approximate salary of $50,000 per annum. However, your two years Win NT skills should command a salary of between $38,000 and $45,000 per annum.
