Vodafone New Zealand won’t necessarily follow its Australian counterpart in outsourcing its IT operations if it goes down that path.

According to The Australian, Vodafone Australia has been talking to interested parties about outsourcing part of its IT and networks.

Vodafone New Zealand managing director Tim Miles says while the local arm and Vodafone Australia are working increasingly closely together, he wouldn’t automatically follow Australia.

“We have different networks — theirs is Ericsson, ours is Nokia.”

Both branches of Vodafone released their yearly financial results late last month and both achieved growth in several areas.

In New Zealand data revenue as a proportion of total revenue increased from 9% to nearly 13%. Overall revenue was up 20% on last year.
