The head of the State Services Commission’s e-government unit, Brendan Boyle, has been appointed chief executive of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).
Boyle is a former registrar general of land, a position he held from 1996 to 1999. He has headed the e-goverenment unit since September 2000.
Both LINZ and the e-government unit have been preoccupied by high-profile IT projects for the past several years. LINZ is nearing the end of implementation of LandOnline, a $145 million project to digitise the country’s land title information.
The e-government unit has been leading the GoProcure state sector online purchasing system effort, which has garnered only limited interest among state agencies.
Boyle takes up his new post in August.
