A new collection of services for travel agencies delivered via a network could particularly help remote offices.
Gullivers Online says it's done the pilot of its Global Reach offering, a bundle of software and services aimed at travel agents, and a rollout is likely by the end of next month.
Global Reach services include access to major reservation systems, voice over IP and desktop applications, delivered as an ASP (application service provider) product. It's a collaboration between Gullivers Online, Telecom, application service provider iVASP and Gullivers Pacific Group’s software arm, Serko Technology Solutions.
The pilot identified that further work was needed integrating the system with a third-party product.
“There are just a couple of technical things we’re working through,” says CEO Kathy O’Connor. “We’re very pleased.”
The initial rollout will target 110 users at 30 locations, O’Connor says, followed by a further 400 users at 150 locations. The rollout will include retraining and deployment plans.
A push into Australia is likely in the fourth quarter this year or first quarter next year, she says.
The ASP model is particularly useful for workers in smaller offices, says O’Connor, as it provides a full range of software in one package, including internet tools and LAN access.
“If you’re out there in some smaller location, it’s actually hard. It isn’t always easy to get somebody with those skills.”
