Support NZ Olympians at IBM Web site

Sending support messages to our 150 athletes at the Olympic Games should be easy with the launch of a free fanmail Web site.

Sending support messages to our 150 athletes at the Olympic Games should be easy with the launch of a free fanmail Web site.

The IBM site (www.ibm.com/fanmail) expects to receive more than 600,000 messages at the Sydney Games, now less than six weeks away.

It was officially launched yesterday with two of the Kiwi coxless fours Scott Brownlee and Dave Schaper.

IBM business sales manager Craig Stoddart says the messages of support will be received by athletes in an IBM "surf shack" cybercafe in the Olympic Village.

Only text messages can be sent; not pictures or attachments. They can be sent to individuals, teams or the whole New Zealand squad.

Brownlee says athletes receive much encouragement from fanmails.

There is also an official Olympice site - www.olympics.com.
