New Zealand staff will have to wait and see whether EDS's 2% global staff cull affects them.
EDS said last week it would cut 2800 jobs, 2% of its worldwide head count of 138,000, in response to changes in demand for its services.
EDS NZ spokesperson Joanna Clarke says the company doesn't know what the impact of the staff cuts, announced earlier this month, will be in this country.
"We expect further announcements in the third and fourth quarters, but understand most of the job losses will be in North America and Europe."
Last year EDS went through an earlier round of cuts, shedding 2000, but Sydney-based spokesman Brian Finn told Computerworld that EDS Australia and New Zealand had already been through a "rebalancing exercise".
In the US EDS is facing lower-than-expected sales and a Securities and Exchange Commission probe.
