Dear What Am I Worth,

I have been working for a software house in the Auckland area as a technical consultant for the past two years. We have accounting and distribution software that I provide support for.

My job entails software installation, upgrades, programming/development, customisation, data conversion, building interfaces to other software and troubleshooting/debugging clients' problems.

I am also starting to program for the Web browser. Our software deploys on both Unix and NT platforms.

Before this, I worked for 18 months as an analyst programmer using MS Access and VBA. I am a computer science graduate with honours.

Candle IT&T replies: Given the background you outline, without knowing the development technologies you are working with, I would expect you to be earning around $55,000 to $65,000.
