Ihug has hired the former business manager of Virtual Spectator to run its Ihug Business division.
As general manager of the division, Vaughan Robertson will be responsible for Ihug's business solutions, Web site development, Web advertising and business customer support.
Ihug says that in addition to his experience with Virtual Spectator, Robertson has 15 years' experience in customer database management and has been consulting on Internet marketing for the past five years. He is a past chairman of the Northern Region of the Direct Marketing Association of New Zealand.
Robertson says he will "make sure the Ihug attitude is delivered to the business client. We can do it better, cheaper, and with far more concern for the customer's needs than many current providers appear to be doing.
"Businesses in search of a good website are caught between small templated sites and massively expensive tailored solutions. We can change that. Ihug can provide a solid Internet connection as well as competitive tolls, all in one package. The key for business clients is in providing service convergence. In this area, Ihug is leading the way. Ihug is small enough to react to the needs of the market, and large enough to provide the security of a long-term relationship with the client."
The hiring of Robertson comes amid a number of other internal changes at Ihug, which doubled in size last year. An internal audit by KPMG is understood to have been commissioned.
