F&P mulls ERP upgrade

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare will decide next month which version of the SSA Global Technologies MK ERP system it will roll out.

Group systems manager Angela Whittle says the original plan was to upgrade from the present version 8.1 to version 8.4, but with the development of version 8.5, a move straight to that version may be the best approach.

“Version 8.4 is due to go live in France [at F&P Healthcare’s French direct sales and marketing operations] in October, but 8.5 is due for release in April and we’re looking at waiting until then, if there’s no benefit in 8.4.”

The decision on which version to go with is to be made in August, she says.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is run separately from the company’s whiteware division, which uses JD Edwards ERP software. MK encompasses manufacturing, logistics, sales and finance. It was bought by SSA from Computer Associates, where it was called InterBiz, last year.

Most, but not all, InterBiz assets were transferred to SSA in the deal.
