Kicked off in Auckland on Tuesday, Showcase 2003 is an opportunity for vendors to present their latest products to retailers. The event travels to Wellington tomorrow and will finish in Christchurch on Monday.

The theme this year is "Discover the next generation of technology". Many products on display had a consumer focus, although the vendors ranged from Sony to Cisco.

At the Auckland event flat-panel screens were de rigeur at almost every booth, many featuring a widescreen format. Networking vendors were present in force with examples of the latest wireless devices. New games and gaming accessories were the focus of console manufacturers.

A representative of event organisers Tech Pacific said Showcase had been well attended at the Auckland show. "We were pretty happy with the numbers," he said. "It was busy during the entire day."

Vendors in attendance include Epson, Microsoft, HP, Philips, Adobe, Telecom and Vodafone.
