Kiwi jobs go in Aussie transfer

Cost-cutting and a decline in the games market has led to the relocation to Australia of "back office" functions from Sega Ozisoft in Albany, Auckland.

Seven out of the ten employees lost their jobs at the end of September, which follows a merger between Ozisoft and fellow games importer and distributor GT Interactive.

Sales manager Mark Campbell says the newly-merged company is officially known as Infograms, but will trade as Ozisoft.

Campbell says the cuts happened because it was "far more profitable" to run the services from Australia, but no other jobs would be created there.

"The general gaming market is [also] in decline," he says.
