PC sales for the second quarter have leapt 30% compared with the previous three months and compared with the same period last year.
According to market reseacher IDC, 123,433 PCs—desktops, notebooks and servers—sold in New Zealand in the three months to the end of June.
Hewlett-Packard dominated the overall market, followed by IBM, Dell Toshiba and Acer. HP also led each market segment.
The most spectacular growth occurred in the portables market, according to IDC; the latest quarter’s sales—at 28, 754--are almost 80% higher than a year ago.
IDC says the comparative strength of the New Zealand dollar helped sales during the quarter.
