Auckland's 2Day.com has become the first BNZ Buyline customer to be certified for the bank's new multi-currency payment product, Currency Select.
Currency Select was announced last week to fill a demand evident since BNZ and its competitor ASB Bank launched their respective real-time transaction products – the ability to take credit card payments in foreign currencies.
2Day.com managing director Peter Mott says the company was "fairly keen to be first to market with this one" and he spent Labour Weekend "slogging away" on code
The company completed testing and launched the product yesterday afternoon and the first 2Day.com customers are expected to go live with the product next week.
Mott says the multi-currency service is something his hosting customers have been after, "particularly with the dollar where it is. There are export opportunities that need to be taken advantage of as we approach Christmas. I think anybody with a product that might be of interest to the US consumer market is going to do well."
Mott says he will be offering the multi-currency feature at the same price as his current single-currency payment products.
Currency Select supports 12 currencies for Visa and Mastercard, but on New Zealand dollars for American Express and Diners Club, apparently because of issues at the card companies themselves.
