Dear What Am I Worth,

I am a systems consultant with one of New Zealand's largest software development companies. I've been in the industry for four years and have spent the last two years in the above role. Before this I studied and also taught computing part-time. I have an Advanced Certificate in Business Computing.

I perform an array of tasks in my job: account management, client relationship management, team leading, project management, business analysis, application design, coding and quality assurance. I am the first point of contact for my major client and my team and I enjoy a successful relationship with them.

My technical experience has been with Oracle on Solaris, the database only (and all related, Unix SQL, PL/SQL, Java, tuning) and more recently with Oracle's latest flagship product, 8i, and Java, HTML and web development.

I have run internal courses in Java and Enterprise Java while also learning about application servers, namely JRun. I have passed one exam toward Oracle DBA certification and am studying toward the Java Certified Programmer qualification through Sun to formalise my knowledge of this technology.

I'm looking for a similar type of role where I can perform consulting tasks and team/project leadership, yet still occasionally get my hands dirty, preferably on contract.

De Winter International replies: You have a broad range of skills. Your contracting rate will depend on what you are selling, but will be somewhere in the $50 to $70 an hour range.
