Another website has been launched to help Kiwis find a holiday bach.

Bookabach.co.nz claims a growing list of more than 500 properties across both islands. Booking and listing basic details are free. The site to be funded by extra services such as having pictures by the bach and an individual website for a property detailing availability, says creator Simon Morgan. Auckland-based Morgan also runs Carpe Direct Marketing, a marketing consultancy.

The extra services will be launched in the next few days and an "email alert" service will also arrive in the next few weeks, advising users of baches in certain areas and price ranges.

Three people work on the site and took four months developing it, using Microsoft's application server pages (ASP).

It went live five weeks ago after which bach owners were contacted to build up the listings. Morgan says he created the site believing there was a gap in the market.

Rival Bachclub, launched earlier this year for bach owners to manage rentals, operates under a club membership system. A few other sites, such as Travelnz.com, also list holiday homes.
