Hopeful MCSE

Dear What Am I Worth,

I have recently completed four Miscosoft exams (NT Workstation, NT Server, NT Server in the Enterprise and Proxy Server 2.0) and will be sitting a TCP/IP test in the very near future. I aim to obtain my Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or similar qualification with the advent of Windows 2000.

I have 18 months' hardware experience working in the UK and limited software/administration experience since returning to New Zealand. Having made a career change I am very much on the proverbial learning curve. What type of position should I be aiming for and what type of salary should I expect?

Avid learner

De Winter International replies: You should be aiming to get your foot in the door in a support role in a company that has room for you to grow. Expect a salary of $35,000 to $40,000.
