Wanganui security software company, Opstec, is relocating to Auckland as it plans a major expansion.
The move follows the two-year-old business - owned by security guard turned programmer James Price - being appointed Australasian reseller for US-based security services company Bold Technologies Ltd.
Bold offers Windows-based alarm monitoring software, including one that uses a swipe card to record when guards do their tour of duty.
Opstec (www.opstec.net.nz) has also developed its own software, known has MAPS, which has been rebranded SIPS, for the security guard industry.
Price says the mid-January move to Manukau is to be closer to customers. Within six months, he plans to increase staff from two to eight.
