Upper Hutt businesses have found a new saviour in the run-up to Christmas.
Tired of losing trade to larger stores in nearby Wellington, they hope an internet-based promotion will bring festive fun.
"Click and Win" involves the city council, chamber of commerce and around 100 businesses, who now all have their own websites. It offers a $10,000 draw prize.
Webmaster Grant Edlin says the site has undergone beta testing and was launched yesterday. He believes it is the first of its kind.
The website contains clues to six questions relating to Upper Hutt City, more than 100 'mini-websites', and a 360-degree panning view of the city mall.
Entry is open to people who spend $15 in Upper Hutt, keep their receipts and return their answers online by the December 23 draw.
