The Taranaki-based FreeParking domain name registration service has announced an alliance with register.com – meaning New Zealanders can now purchase .com names in New Zealand dollars.
Richard Shearer, general manager of FreeParking's parent company, WebFarm, describes the move to offer registration for .com, .net and .org names as a "natural progression" for the company, which was one of the first to sign up as a Domainz accredited registar this year.
Shearer says the pricing on .com names of $NZ49.95 +GST is below the average world price of $US24.00 quoted by greatdomains.com.
"New Zealand customers not only get world competitive pricing, but can pay in their own currency and get free add-on features such as URL redirection."
Register.com's director of international business development, LoriFaye Fischler, says the registrar is "extremely excited" to be doing business with FreeParking as part of a global expansion of its services.
Shearer says FreeParking has more in the pipeline, with registration of foreign character domain names and launches into other markets coming up.
