The Turbine 2.3 web application framework includes a completely overhauled templating engine and no longer supports WebMacro, Freemarker, or Castor. It uses Maven as its build tool and commons-logging and commons-configuration.

Torque is a persistence layer originally developed as part of Turbine; it has since been decoupled, and the final release of Torque 1.3 is now available. It uses stratum lifecycle interfaces and commons-logging, and runtime and generation environments have been separated.
