FCC creates domestic security office

The US Federal Communications Commission developed its own office of homeland security to provide a 24/7 point of contact for crisis management and an emergency response centre. This includes handling incoming and outgoing secure and nonsecure national and international communications by phone, fax and radio, and US Coast Guard search and rescue communications circuits.
