Plans are being finalised for the “Big Geek Programme”, a two-day technical conference for network engineers in the New Year.
Acting convenor Donald Neal says the event is planned for January 29 and 30 at the University of Waikato, aiming at a savvy audience. “Probably they will tend towards the fairly rigorous technical papers,” he says.
Big Greek Programme is a working name used on the mailing list of the NZ Network Operators Group during discussions. However, attendance isn’t limited, Neal says. “Anybody is welcome to appear.”
The NZNOG event was originally seen as a potential replacement for NetForum, which was held most recently in Auckland in July. However, Neal says it’s possible both events could continue.
Waikato University’s Wide Area Network Dynamics group is hosting the conference and providing “logistical legwork”, Neal says.
