Corporates and developers started getting their hands on the release version of Microsoft Office 2003 yesterday, two weeks ahead of the scheduled release date.
MSDN subscribers and customers with enterprise or select agreement licences can now download Office Professional or Standard 2003. The individual programs available include the 2003 versions of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage, InfoPath, OneNote and Publisher.
Office 2003 should be available from retailers on October 23, followed by the official product launch. Microsoft New Zealand says customers who buy current retail copies of Office XP will be eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2003. An upgrade coupon is available from the Microsoft website.
New computers should begin shipping with Office 2003 installed early next month, the company says.
There are about 360 New Zealand companies with enterprise or select agreement licences, according to a Microsoft spokesman. Most licensees support about 350 to 400 seats, although some have up to 3500, he says.
