Women In Technology director Carol Lee Davidson has quit her job as Oracle’s technology manager and will join SAP next month.

In the meantime, she’s devoting her energies to Women In Technology and says her new job as SAP’s industry manager for services and healthcare, while a full-time position, will allow her to be flexible and spend time on WIT work.

She says Oracle is “a fantastic supporter” of WIT, but she wanted to move on.

“I love Oracle, it’s a great company, but a girl has to look after her future.

“SAP had been head hunting me and provided me with a fabulous opportunity.”

The business applications market “will become interesting if Larry gets to purchase PeopleSoft — it’ll really limit the players in the market”.

WIT is surging ahead, she says, and has around 1400 members, 50 of whom are men.

“The guys are saying we want to hear these empowering stories about professional development etc and we want to do these courses too.”
