Hamilton-based ISP Wave Internet has taken over the user base of failed PC assembler The PC Company's virtual ISP operation, PC Connect.

Wave was hosting the service for The PC Company and has reached an agreement with the receiver appointed to wind up the company, says Wave marketing manager Wayne Attwell.

"I can't go into detail about the deal as it's confidential but it was in both parties' interests."

Attwell says Wave will continue to honour those PC Company customers who were given free internet access via the service and will retain the PC Connect email addresses and domain name.

He says PC Connect customers number "in the low thousands," but that the free trial period users make the long-term numbers hard to estimate.
