Oh the irony. Telecom's customer of the month, the person who paid their bill on time by direct debit or online and who was picked at random, collects a cheque for $10,000. This month's lucky winner is Grant Forsyth, TelstraClear's government relations manager.
Forsyth says he banked the cheque as fast as his legs would carry him.
"It's the monopoly power at work. You can't escape even when you work for the opposition."
Forsyth says the $10,000 is a sign there is justice in the world, although it doesn't go far enough to compensate for the many long hours he's put in on the unbundling issue.
"It would need a lot more zeros in it for that."
Telecom spokesman John Goulter says it's quite possible there will be a photo of Forsyth in the next Telecom "In Touch" newsletter collecting his cheque.
