Software picks Australia for Asia-Pacific HQ

XML specialist Software has chosen Australia as its new Asia-Pacific headquarters.

XML (Extensible Markup Language) specialist Software has chosen Australia as its new Asia-Pacific headquarters.

New general manager Asia-Pacific, John O'Malley, said Australia was chosen as it is currently Software's strongest market in the Asia-Pacific region.

O'Malley was promoted from Software managing director, Australia.

"Some of our existing staff now have regional roles and our Canberra-based support centre is now our key provider of customer support," he said.

The company has expanded its workforce by 30% in the past six months, recently recruiting extra XML specialists to support Asia-Pacific customers.

Integrated enterprises using XML standard systems are more efficient and profitable, according to O'Malley.

"We're also looking to boost our professional sales capability, possibly through acquisition," he said.

Software AG's major customers in the region include Colonial First State Investments, Australia Securities and Investments Commission, Nissan and the Inland Revenue Department of Hong Kong.
