Draft govt ICT strategy due

A first draft of the government's refreshed ICT strategy is likely to be in front of associate IT Minister David Cunliffe by the end of this month.

A first draft of the government’s refreshed ICT strategy is likely to be in front of associate IT Minister David Cunliffe by the end of this month.

But his scrutiny and possible amendments may take some time, says IT policy chief Reg Hammond at the Ministry of Economic Development, so it is not possible to say when a revised public draft might be available.

The team putting together the strategy has had extensive discussions with industry and has been to the US to ask industry leaders about “technology drivers” that might influence the strategy, Hammond says.
