Despite widespread speculation that Nokia has been selected to build its New Zealand and Australian 3G network, Vodafone isn't commenting.
The first indication that Nokia has been selected came at the end of March, when a recruitment firm placed ads on behalf of Nokia calling for staff to work on a network project.
The ad noted "Nokia is preparing itself to create the 'new wave' network in New Zealand [and] to do this it needs a team of people prepared to own the process of rolling out and caring for this technology".
Daily newspapers in New Zealand and Australia have implied Nokia is the preferred vendor, with only the formal contract signing remaining, but Vodafone NZ spokeswoman Sarah Williams won't confirm Nokia is the frontrunner.
"We don't have a contract signed yet and there's no confirmed vendor to be announced."
A final decision and announcement is likely "in the next couple of weeks," she says.
