The announcement of a vendor to build Vodafone's New Zealand and Australian 3G network is expected soon, Vodafone NZ spokeswoman Sarah Williams says.
"We're definitely making progress and it'll be within the next two weeks," she told Computerworld last week.
The successful vendor is widely believed to be Nokia, with the first indications of that coming in March with the placement of advertising by a recruitment firm on behalf of Nokia calling for staff to work on "the 'new wave' network in New Zealand."
Positions the ad sought to fill included project manager, rollout manager and project engineer.
Ericsson, Nortel Networks and a Siemens-NEC consortium also put in bids for the rollout and Vodafone has stated that "hundreds of millions" will be spent on the network.
Nokia's bid is being headed by former NZ managing director Phil Kemp.
