Recruitment agency Spherion's Asia-Pacific division, including New Zealand, has been sold to Australian recruitment and HR management firm Ross Human Directions.

Spherion's US parent has been selling off the company's non-US operations following a review that concluded it should focus on the US market.

Spherion's education business in the Asia-Pacific region has already been sold to another Australian company, EasyCall, but the recruitment, technology and outsourcing side of the business had been on the market for several months until today's purchase announcement.

Ross Human Directions will pay $A31 million for those parts of the Asia-Pacific operation.

Earlier this year, Spherion Asia-Pacific head Andrea Galloway told Computerworld New Zealand contributes 15% of Spherion's Asia-Pacific revenues.
