A server outage at Genesis Energy yesterday disrupted customer payments, leaving the company unable to accept credit cards or "InCharge" pre-pay payments.
A company spokewoman told Computerworld Genesis had an internet outage at 10am yesterday which lasted for three hours. The server problem, she says, would have left people unable to access information about external services.
While some customers say they were told the billing system was down, the spokeswoman says that is not the case. She says by 1.30pm the server issues had been resolved and everything was up and running again.
InCharge is a pre-pay system that allows customers to top up credit on their meters at authorised outlets, online or by telephone.
