Unisys launches supply chain app

Supply chain solution improves visibility while reducing complexity and risk

Unisys has announced a solution for supply chain visibility and security, known as Global Visible Commerce.

The intenational launch follows a number of trials for the US government and pilots for Operation Safe Command, run by the Transportation Security Administration, which is part of Homeland Security.

“We’ve also done 20 commercial pilots in supply chain visibility operations,” says Ton Zielinski, Asia Pacific supply chain management partner.

“It’s about knowing where everything is. Many organisations outsource distribution and manufacturing, so there are many involved in the supply chain. That increases risk and complexity.

“Our solution allows all the players to have a greater degree of visibility.

“Global Visible Commerce is an umbrella over a bunch of solutions that address individual industries. It includes consulting, gap analysis and technology.”

The technologies include RFID, bar-doing and GPS.

Zielinski says Unisys has been using RFID longer than any other company. “We’ve been the prime integrator for the US Department of Defence since 1994.”
