Meridian Energy updates PCs, with Vista in mind

Generator moves to increase workforce mobility

Meridian Energy is replacing its fleet of desktop and laptop PCs to increase mobility and to prepare the ground for Windows Vista.

The generator is seeking 600 laptops and 150 desktop computers as part of the project and specifies they be "Windows Vista capable", though supplied without operating system installed. The standard operating environment will be supplied by Meridian.

Meridian specifies the PCs be dual core with a minimum of 2Gb of RAM, expandable to 4GB and requires the vendor to have a global PC recycling or reallocation campaign. All PCs must have a web camera either built in or as a peripheral.
