Waikato health decision looms

$6.5m decision expected sometime from next week

Waikato District Health is close to making a decision on spending $6.5 million on a new patient management system.

CIO Alan Grainer says he’s hopeful of a decision sometime soon after Waitangi Day. The health board issued a closed tender to just two parties: iSoft and IBA.

“We’re working on a client administration project to replace the old Hospro system, Grainer says.

“We’ve budgeted in the district annual plan to spend $6.5 million over the next three years. That covers all aspects of the project, including hardware, software, implementation services and an implementation planning study.”

The project is at an advanced stage of selection and business case approval, he says.
