Fletchers in deal with Datacom

CIO departs as outsourcing deal is prepared

Fletcher Steel CIO Herman van Krieken is leaving Fletchers in the wake of an upcoming IT outsourcing deal with Datacom.

Van Krieken confirmed to Computerworld last week that he and another senior IT staffer will leave as a result of the deal, which is due to be finalised next month.

John Beveridge, GM of Fletcher Steel unit Fletcher EasySteel, declined to comment on the deal, except to say "we're working on it" and that it won't cover Fletcher Steel's whole IT operation.

Computerworld understands ten other IT staff may be offered jobs with Datacom.

Fletcher Steel comprises several business units, including Fletcher EasySteel and Pacific Steel, and is a subsidiary of Fletcher Building.

Beveridge is also GM for shared services within Fletcher Steel.
